About Brian Mehl
Born in 1946, I completed a Degree course in Graphic Design at the London College of Printing, and then worked as a graphic designer for a number of years.
I started and successfully ran my own design company for 23 years. I retired to the Algarve in 1996 to pursue my dream of painting as a full-time occupation.
I like working in all types of media and I do not have a preference for subject matter or style. I would rather approach each painting or drawing as an individual problem and let that particular subject suggest it's own solution.
My acrylic paintings of Sir Cliff Richard's vineyard - The Adega do Cantor - have been incorporated into the label design for Sir Cliff's wine, VIDA NOVA, and I have been commisioned over the last few years to produce further paintings for each year's label. I have also been commisioned to paint a series of watercolours for The Clube Praia d'Oura and the Oura Praia Hotel. These paintings have been reproduced and decorate the guest rooms. My work can also be found in private collections in Germany, Canada, England, Ireland, Switzerland and Portugal.
